Dr. Shaker A. Lashuel is the current Executive Director of the Global Studies Institute. Before joining GSI, Dr. Lashuel worked in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as the scientific support program manager at AlMuallem Center for Knowledge and Education—overseeing funding for higher education initiatives and institutions both within the Saudi Kingdom and abroad. However, it was in New York City where Dr. Lashuel initially launched his education career in 1996, working for the NYC Department of Education for 15 years. It was during this time that he taught science and technology while holding training and administrative-based roles at the school level. In 2009, he joined a district-level team that supervised and supported teaching and learning across 25 PreK-12 schools.
