Dr. Shaima Alraiy

Dr. Shaima Alraiy is an International Development and Humanitarian professional, working with national and international organizations to deliver humanitarian and developmental interventions for children, youth, women, and families. Dr. Alraiy is a holder of a Ph.D. in Social Policy Analysis and Planning with a focus on Children’s Rights from Walden University, USA. She holds a Masters degree in Social Sciences from the same University, and an MBA from the Maastricht School of Management, The Netherlands.  Dr. Alraiy is currently the Community Partnerships and Granting Programs Manager with The Red Cross, National Office, Canada. In this role, Dr. Alraiy leads the National Office team and manages active Community Partnership Programs, with a focus on accurate implementation of all programs against set quality standards, and ensuring compliance, and quality assurance across the Provinces’ active programs.

As a lead Child’s Rights activist and advocate, Dr. Alraiy worked as a National Consultant for the Yemen Ministry of Education, UNICEF, and SOUL for Development. She contributed to the development of a Comprehensive National Child Protection System in schools in Yemen. Additionally, she carried out consultancy which contributed to the development of a Program Kit for integrating a subject on Children’s Rights in the Yemeni Police Academy curriculum. As a researcher, Dr. Alray has led and contributed to research both nationally and regionally. Some of these researches are;  “Country Profile on the Situation of Children in Yemen,” “Regional Analysis on the Situation of Violence against Children in Schools in Lebanon, Morocco, and Yemen,” a study entirely led by adolescents on the situation of children using the “Child-led Data Collection” methodology and the national quantitative and qualitative assessment research on “Violence against children in Schools,” and qualitative research on “Child Marriage, Armed Children and Children in Conflict with the Law in Yemen.”
